Art Department takeover: till the next one!

Tank ArmourWarefare 02 1024x5761

We are at the end of this week’s journey through some of the amazing work of our Art Department, going through some style frames from different presentations, projects and campaigns we’ve been working these last months.

And there comes a point when a ballerina and a male cleaning superhero have to get together, right?

And then, our Artists have to combine the graceful movements and magic of a ballerina and the manly features of this other character standing beside.

In this particular case it was crucial respecting textures and color of each character, and the contrasts between them, as well as trying different facial expressions and poses.

Artist: Nicolás Villarreal

Look Development: Emo Enriquez

In this particular case, from the first drafts till the final concepts we tried to maintain the humor needed in their postures, gestures, exaggerating some features and some movement, inventing some gear and objects for the characters.

Hope you have enjoyed these round of posts to portrait some of the artwork our team of Artists is dedicated to every day! Have a great weekend and see you next week with some exciting work here from Gizmo!

Art Department Takeover: Just a simple Test…

Continuing our round of Art Department posts, here is another example of the work we put on each pitch, in this case, a test for a project we pitched recently.

First, the environment: the sense of “night time in a foggy city”. This only idea means searching the exact city that has to be designed for this particular project and creating the appropriate lighting for this animated scene.

And then bringing this character to life, its movements, the shapes through the transformation, respecting the models that we received and then showing this animation test.

Art Department takeover: Round 2!

Tank ArmourWarefare 02

We continue showing the incredible work of our Art Department, going through some style frames from different presentations, projects and campaigns we’ve been working on recently.

We decided to show you these Tanks we have designed for a very exciting game trailer project.

You can see the artwork when contemplating both different backgrounds: a shed for the tanks and the kind of landscape for a war scene.

A hiperrealistic take in this opportunity, where every detail is taken to its peak to give this idea of complete reality to the game.

In the Artwork for the tank in the dusty field you can see the sense of movement in what is going to be an epic battle.

Art Department takeover

03 Nutcracker 01

We are going to dedicate some of our next posts on the incredible work of our Art Department, going through some style frames from different projects and campaigns we’ve been working on recently.

Our team of Artists gives the initial looks to the projects, starting from zero and resulting on exceptional creatures, environments and designs for all of our films and integrated projects.

Today we felt a little Christmassy. We know we have to wait another long 9 months for the next one… But here are some concepts for a campaign in which we had to bring to life these Christmas characters.

So there you have, the archetypical characters of every Christmas coming to life stylized with different human qualities and looks.

The Artist responsible for the Artwork was Gachi Gonçalves.

Combining this and many other things we had to have in mind, such as facial expressions, human and toon movements, textures that vary depending on every character and the material they are supposed to be made of, our Artists and Creative teams are able to create amazing animated worlds in which each detail has to tell us something about the story in which we are immerse each time.

This amazing trip never ends!

After having a great time in San Francisco’s Game Developers Conference (GDC), Emmanuel Verruno is now in LA visiting colleagues and talented teams from different Advertising Agencies and Production Companies.

This time Emmanuel and Fanny Veliz from La Division, our Reps in the US Latino Market, had the opportunity to visit the amazing Grupo Gallegos, and here are some pictures from its beautiful office.

We are happy to be attending San Francisco’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) and we wanted to share some images of our first day there

It was a bussy day in which we had the opportunity to attend pannels, see the most relevant game development tools and meet industry experts from all over the world to share Gizmo’s latest work with colleagues from the game industry.

Here, some images taken by our team.

Emmanuel Verruno, Director & Founder of Gizmo, is now attending San Francisco’s Game Developers Conference (GDC), the world’s largest and longest-running professionals-only game industry event.

The GDC attracts over 26,000 attendees, and is the primary forum where programmers, artists, producers, game designers, audio professionals, business decision-makers and others involved in the development of interactive games gather to exchange ideas and shape the future of the industry”, as they present themselves in their site http://www.gdconf.com/aboutgdc/

But besides attending this important event, being in San Francisco gives our team the possibility of meeting extraordinary artists and friends, such as Nicolás Villarreal, well-known Artist, Character Designer, Sculptor, traditional Animator, or let’s just say, an Exceptional Artist we admire.

Nicolás met Emmanuel at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco where he is the Director of the Visual Development Department.

We had the chance to see the amazing work they are doing there for our Industry and had fun looking around every spot we could.

We hope this week continues like this! Meeting with talented friends as Nicolás and sharing our passion for animation with our colleagues and all GDC attendees.

Follow your Heart – Spotlight on Gizmo

Follow your heart

Gizmo and its Founder & Director Emmanuel Verruno have recently work along Inglinks Creative and Director Rob O’Neil in the upcoming short film Follow your heart. And here is just a spotlight Inglinks has made on Gizmo, where we share some of the great experience it was to be a part of this beautiful film:

“Follow Your Heart” was animated by Gizmo Animation, a studio based in Buenos Aires, Argentina with additional offices in Mexico and Madrid. Some of Gizmo’s recent clients include Netflix, Disney, Beats by Dre, ESPN, Kraft, Bayer, Ford, Hasbro, Honda, and Nestlé. Through its 11 years of work , the company has received honors and awards from prestigious arts and entertainment institutions such as Cannes Lions, the Clio Awards, the London International Awards, the New York Festival, the El Sol Festival, the El Ojo de Iberoamerica Festival and The One Show, among others.

Said Gizmo’s founder and the Animation Director and Head of Art on the project Emmanuel Verruno, “At Gizmo Animation, we love to design new worlds. The short film format really allowed us to create a very rich environment where the characters can live and work. The film has no dialogue, so it was a great challenge for us to work with the pure reactions of the characters and create meaningful visual moments.”

When speaking about the unique design of Skip, Mary’s heart, Verruno commented, “One of the challenges of the project was to bring Skip, Mary’s pet, to life. In Mary’s world, all of the animals resemble human hearts. We needed to develop an animation style that allowed this organic form to achieve a believable weight and movement and also convey a strong emotional inner life.”
